Gear Bikes is the only bike shop in town I trust enough to leave my bike in for checks and repairs. Over years Joe has proven his professional and detailed approach to any issue I've raised with him regarding my bike, making sure it all works to the best standards. This certainty of high service provision have actually helped me overcome my fear from getting back into cycling after a serious bike accident. Making sure that my bike is working properly puts me at ease and Joe was able to build that trust and certainly.

The service is always timely and well priced. Joe and the rest of the team are always nice and friendly. I can't recommend enough the Gear Bike shop as the to go bike shop in Glasgow.

Outstanding service from a very personable company.

First contacted them about a small brake repair, they asked me to bring it in to see what was needed, they had the parts in stock and had me on my way again in 40 minutes.

I won't go anywhere else now. They've done everything for me from a chain replacement to a full E bike service and just a few weeks ago did a complete custom build on a new dirt jumper for my son.

Quick turn around, decent prices , friendly and genuinely honest guys who are all cyclists themselves and love what they do.

A wee gem in the city.

I've used Gear for several years now and always get an excellent service on my bikes! Friendly and helpful. Recently got my Boardman CX serviced with new chain, cassette, chainring and it feels good and running smoothly. About to go out on it now! Like how you can usually easily drop your bike in, get a quote in a day or so and get the bike back in about a week approx. Excellent service, would highly recommend! 🚴😀👌

Workshop questions

Before you bring it in

Do I need to book my bike in?

No. Just bring it in while the shop's open (Monday to Saturday 10am–6pm, Sunday 12pm–5pm). We take your name, mobile number and what needs doing, then text you a quote. When the workshop is full, the status at the top of the workshop page says so and gives the next intake date.

How long will my bike take?

Current turnaround: 3–5 days. Punctures, buckled wheels and broken spokes are often quick jobs. Text Joe on WhatsApp (07831 694 830, message only) if you need to know before you come in.

Will you tell me the price before you start?

Always. We text you the cost before any work begins. Reply to say whether you want to go ahead, and we'll text again when it's ready.

Do your prices include parts?

No. Service and repair prices are labour only, and parts are extra. Your text quote covers both before we start.

Can I just bring the wheel?

Yes, and for punctures, buckled wheels and spoke replacements we'd rather you did where you can.

Do you service e-bikes?

Yes, but Bosch and Shimano e-bike systems only. Dougie, our e-bike servicing expert, repairs and services them, and we do Bosch software updates in-house. We can't work on other e-bike systems (for example Bafang, Yamaha or hub-motor conversion kits).

Which service should I book for disc brakes?

For hydraulic disc brakes, a B or C Service. The A Service isn't for bikes with hydraulic disc brakes.

Can you fix tubeless tyres?

Yes. Tubeless set-up is from £25, tubeless tyre problems are a regular job, and we build tubeless wheels too.

Do you work on Shimano Di2 and SRAM?

Yes. We work on Shimano (including Di2 electronic gears) and SRAM groupsets, on gravel, road, mountain and hybrid bikes.

Do you fix pram and buggy tyres?

Yes, we do pram tyres and tubes.

Which number should I use?

To talk to us, call the shop on 0141 339 1179. For a quick workshop question, text the workshop on 07773 150 368. To reach Joe, text him on WhatsApp on 07831 694 830: it's message only, no calls, and it's our 24/7 out-of-hours helpline.

Do your services include bleeding hydraulic brakes?

No. A brake bleed isn't included in the B or C Service price. If your hydraulic brakes need bleeding, it's +£15 per brake on top of the service, and we only charge it when the bike needs it. It's in your text quote before we start.

Still unsure? Call the shop on 0141 339 1179, or text Joe on WhatsApp (07831 694 830, message only).
